This is your last opportunity to add a Robert Marx artwork to your collection. June 10 will mark the end of Davidson Galleries’ 50 year relationship with the important American painter, sculptor, printmaker and drawer; Robert Ernst Marx. A family trust has been created which requires the return of all unsold artwork. This is an emotional time for me and for Rebecca McDonald due to the depth of this long standing relationship. Robert was the first artist to commit to Davidson Galleries for representation. I had first met him while working for Ferdinand Roten Galleries in Baltimore, Maryland 1969-1973. I was so honored that such a well established artist would be willing to believe in my dream of establishing a gallery centered in Seattle. Here we are in 2019 with Robert still inspired and full of creative energy, painting every day at the age of 92.
I encourage you to visit the Gallery before June 10 either in person or on our website to consider or revisit a work by Robert that has moved you. Even if you just wish to acknowledge what his work has meant to you, please leave a note or card which we will gather and forward to him.
