Vortext, Seattle artist, Ben Beres’ new exhibition of etchings with chine colle, continues the artist’s exploration of images composed of the written word. To create his images, Beres must write in reverse using an etching needle like a fine pen on the metal etching plates. The result is a richly textured image that beguiles the viewer. The word blocks create unique spaces built from the active rhythms of varying letter combinations and scales.
Beres graduated from Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle, WA in 2000. He is well known around Seattle as one third of the conceptual art trio SuttonBeresCuller.
