Alexander (Shura) Petrov
Available Works
Alexander (Shura) Petrov's surreal snapshots often border on seductive, horrific, and beautiful. Petrov's works are emotionally charged yet also contain a strong narrative component. Petrov, who lives in Moscow, spent several years in Seattle and Portland. It is interesting to note that in the U.S. Petrov is identified as a Russian artist, while in Russia he is considered an American. His irony, always a strong element in his painted allegories, is becoming more subtle and opaque, deriving references from both cultures. Petrov's new paintings highlight his superb technical skills as a draughtsman as well as his keen sense of color.
