Castles & Ruins

In Castles & Ruins, Northwest print artist Lockwood Dennis follows his interest in architectural forms and structured spaces into new territory. Though the artist has never seen a castle, he imagines them “like a mountain that has been formed by uplifting and erosion.” Having unearthed the castle imagery from old blurry black and white photographs of overgrown, unrestored ruins, he builds these scenes as he has in the past- dividing the space into geometric planes of bold color, block by block.
