Description: Pacheco was a Mexican painter, printmaker and teacher who was well known for traditional artistic forms and for his murals that invoke the spirit and history of the Mexican people. Ixtle is a fiber from any of several tropical American agave or yucca plants, traditionally used for cordage, nets, and carpets. Pacheco shows a woman here spinning the fibers by hand.
