Paul WUNDERLICH (German, 1927-2010) and Bruno BRUNI (Italian, b. 1935) both came to prominence in Hamburg in the 1960s and 1970s and are known for their mannerist elongation of the figure, particularly female nudes presented in a minimal context. Karin SZEKESSY (German, b.1935) began her collaboration with Wunderlich in 1963 and the two worked side by side on artistic endeavors until Wunderlich's death. They married in 1971. Szekessy's photographs in this exhibition were taken in their shared Paris studio and feature many of the same models and studio fixtures used for his lithographs. The younger Bruni came to share Wunderlich's mastery of lithograhy, particularly the demanding use of reticulated tusche washes.
