Poem: Today the whole universe seems to exist only for you.
Staff Selections Exhibition: This print is a beautiful example of simplicity. I love the variation of the stars in the sky, the simple composition, and the way the poem ties the piece together both visually and conceptually. The contrast between the small scale of a dandelion and the large scale of the entire universe makes this piece relatable and timeless. -Emma
Series: Nature Stories Medium: Reclaimed wood monoprint Dimensions: 2 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches Signature: Signed Artist details: Korean / American, 1971 Date finished: 2018 Edition: 1/1
Staff Selections Exhibition: This piece is many simple things done brilliantly; limiting the wood textures to small enough windows that they transform into their own worlds, the choice to cut and paste the circles onto the sheet, the use of repetition and variation and movement. Lately I spend a lot of time thinking about the galaxy and the stars, and these four little circles feel to me like a lightspeed trip through the universe. Eunice Kim knows exactly what makes me tick, and this entire series of reclaimed wood monoprints does it for me. -Emma
