Painter, muralist, and sculptor Rico Lebrun was born in Naples, Italy in 1900, and died in Malibu, California in 1964. He is known for strong figurative images, frequently in black and white. In 1954, he began work on his Buchenwald series, an exploration of the horrors of World War II. His Crucifixion Series (as a metaphor) was the basis of a retropective exhibit in Los Angeles in 1967. His work has been exhibited by and is in the collections of numerous museums throughtout the U.S., South America, and Europe.
