Koji Ikuta (Japanese, 1953)
"I draw familiar motifs, such as owls, cats, flowers, and birds. I make my work as a kind of self-portrait, in a microcosm. I carve them and print them myself.
By depicting from various perspectives with this beautiful technique, I create the microcosm. This microcosm is surrounded by the deep and serene blackness. I hope people can find comfort in my prints and be at ease."
