Jean-Luc Le Balp is a Roscoff-based artist whose engravings feature abstract, sculptural compositions. Le Balp was born in Brittany and originally trained as a painter. While studying at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, he transitioned to printmaking and specialized in engraving. His work often shows his love of strong color and rich surfaces, creating large prints where the plate is eroded to reveal natural earth-like textures. Le Balp’s work has been exhibited internationally including in France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, and the United States.
