Jean Arp (also known as Hans Arp) was a pioneer of abstract art, one of the founders of Dada and he participated actively in both Surrealism and Constructivism. Through his experiences with Surrealism and Dada, Arp formed an interest in chance, word play, and reductive abstraction. His portfolio Vers Le Blanc Infini (1960) featured eight mono-chromatic etchings, each followed by one of his poems. The text was created toward the end of his life and the images reflect the variety of styles characteristic of Arp from his amorphous, organic forms to the whimsical, geometric constructions.
