Charles Spitzack graduated from Cornish College of Art, Seattle, WA in 2010 with a focus on Print Arts & Drawing. In his work, one can see influences of the Grosvenor School of Art, especially the work of Cyril Power (1872-1951) and Sybil Andrews (1898-1992), two from the group of dynamic British avant-garde printmakers, known for their graphic images of figures and objects in motion. Spitzack too is drawn to the representation of the human body to express movement and emotion. His technique makes effective use of the bold character of the woodcut medium. Many of the artist’s images show the common man at work, a theme addressed by early 20th century print artists.
