Wesley Wehr was a man of many talents:  Artist, musician, archivist, a paleobotanist at the Burke Museum, and the author of two memoirs, The Eighth Lively Art  and The Accidental Collector.  He is perhaps best known for his involvement in and the documentation of the Northwest School and his friendships with Mark Tobey, Morris Graves, Helmi Juvonen and other prominent Seattle artists.  Although his interests were diverse, Wehr saw a connectivity in all of his pursuits.  His intimate, abstracted Northwest landscapes can recall the hillsides in which he dug for fossils and his whimsical ink drawings are reminiscent of the fossils themselves.
