The Voyages of Captain Cook (1776-1780)
Available Works
The third voyage of Captain James Cook (1728-1779) was organized to discover the Northwest Passage and explored the waters of the Pacific Ocean north of the Equator. The official artist of Cook's Third Voyage was John Webber (1752-1793) who diligently recorded the sights of the journey as they were experienced. Original engravings done after Webber's drawings and paintings document the people and places of the Pacific voyage. These engravings were published in 1784-85 in the large four volume atlas Voyage to the Pacific Ocean...for Making Discoveries in the Northern Hemisphere...to Determine the Position and Extent of the West Side of North America.... The atlas was published by G. Nichol and Thomas Cadell in London.
