American Prints |
|
During the first half of the 20th century a new crop of painters and printmakers, the American Regionalists and Social Realists, increasingly began to create work rooted in their own experiences and surroundings. Interested in both the physical allure of printed images and the possibility for wider distribution for their work, these artists sparked a renaissance of interest in the graphic processes of etching, wood engraving, and lithography. Organizations and galleries such as Associated American Artists, The Woodcut Society, and The Chicago Society of Etchers broadened the audience for these artists by offering affordable, limited edition graphic works to clients from all walks of life. Today, the prints from this period are among the most collectible works of American art. During the month of December, the Antique Print Department will be featuring a selection of 20th century American prints. Please contact Emily at 206-624-6700 or emily@davidsongalleries.com to confirm availablility.
