This important new body of medium and modest scale paintings on panel and paper, continue the artist’s investigation of the space between representation and abstraction. Landscape is still the source of inspiration. Now bold, free, gestural strokes serve to define planes above and below the surface or horizon. The artist allows for but does not encourage a connection to a specific place. The organic palette is effectively punctuated with dark tendrils contrasting with the broad brushwork of lighter colors. These works provide a meaningful extension of inclinations introduced in her previous show.

Beginning in November, Zwirner will have work on display at the Tacoma Art Museum in conjunction with the recent acquisitions exhibition.
