JAY STEENSMA
(American 1841-1994)

Inspired by religion, mysticism, the natural world, and the earlier artists of the Northwest School, Jay Steensma produced a highly prolific and deeply personal body of oil paintings and drawings using a vocabulary of iconic symbols on everything from stretched canvas to brown paper bags.
