Jose Guadalupe Posada (Mexican, 1851-1913)
Available Works
Famed newspaper caricaturist and graphic artist of the Mexican Revolution, Jose Guadalupe Posada is one of the country's most beloved printmakers. Posada’s work had a profound influence on later Mexican artists including Orozco, Rivera, and Mendez. His political passion and acerbic wit pervade the engraved broadsides and inexpensive cartoons he prolifically produced. Sensational works with unflinching social messages, Posada's broadsides have the spontaneous strength of popular art.
