Davidson Contemporary is pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings by Camille Patha. Powerful, colorful, and sensuous, these new paintings are an exciting evolution for an aritist who has been part of the Seattle art community for several years. 

Patha mixes numerous mediums and techniques on these large canvases - oil, encaustic, airbrush, stencil, finger-painting - to create a dazzling mix of bold colors and dynamic compositions. Her hues and formal sensibilities are intuitive. As she works she is a constant blur of energy, moving all around the canvas with an active brush, standing back to survey the work-in-progress, and then climbing up a ladder to add a brushstroke in the corner. The paintings, some measuring eight by ten feet, are made in her studio without assistants. Patha considers these works to be purely abstract and she consciously avoids steering the viewer down any particular path by using titles that are more descriptive than narrative: Purple Refuge, Accelerant Red.

Camille Patha has been an important part of the Northwest art scene since 1970, when she was invited to participate with the famous Washington State delegation to the Oska World’s Fair. Her work is in numerous public collections including the Tacoma Art Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, Jundt Art Museum, and the collections of numerous cities in the state of Washington.
