Peter Klucik

Available Works

The fantastic, metamorphic etchings by Slovakian artist Peter Klucik will be on exhibit in the Contemporary prints and Drawings Department. Klucik studied graphic art and book illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia from 1981 - 1987. He exemplifies the strong Slovakian graphic arts tradition dating back to the Middle Ages. The artist’s images, inspired by his childhood memories of exotic fables and tales, and a closeness to nature, combine a sense of the irrational with mysticism and an unrestrained imagination. His prints begin as fairy tales then morph into the bizarre, creating magical, imaginary creatures ingeniously connected thematically. Klucik’s work has been exhibited throughout Europe and his book illustration has won many prizes.
