Working in the Czech Republic, Jan Hisek creates fantastical mezzotints with mythological, literary, and religious themes. Though often based on identifiable iconography, Hisek's figures and scenes are dreamlike creations of his imagination. With images of archetypal madonnas and figures with glowing eyes, Hisek's works seem to possess a mystical quality.
