Tony Fitzpatrick

Formerly a tattoo artist and semi-professional boxer, self-instructed Chicago artist Tony Fitzpatrick is a renegade in the contemporary art scene. With imagery influenced by street life in Chicago and childhood encounters with Catholic icons, Fitzpatrick has produced several series of prints, often inspired by subjective experiences of death. He creates his small etchings with the precision of a needle on skin and reveals a personal vocabulary of symbols as enigmatic and magical as tarot cards. Fitzpatrick has devoted himself to printmaking and even founded his own press, Big Cat Press. His work has commanded much national attention and he continues to be in the public eye.
