GWEN DAVIDSON
Combining painting, drawing and collage, Gwen Davidson concentrates on formal considerations of color and shape relationships, but ultimately the forms bear associations to the geometry found in our daily life through architectural structures. As the artist comments, “it seems as though every glimpse of nature makes its way to me through the framework of a window: at home, in the car, at work.” Davidson recently completed a series of work inspired directly by nighttime views through the windows of unlit rooms, focused on the play of shadows and the softening of architectural elements. The complexity of the compositions, associations, and the surfaces in Davidson’s pieces entices the viewer to respond on many levels.
