Daniel Dallmann

"Spoons"

February 8 - March 1, 2008

This show focuses on a large painting (90 inches long), the first of a long series of sleeping figures by Philadelphia figurative painter Daniel Dallmann. The other canvases, many quite large as well, also reflect the artist's interest in the figure. Dallmann feels that: "Making pictures with figurative imagery closes the circle; it is imagery by us, about us, and for us. I don't make pictures with a specific content in mind- for me the content is discovered during the process, but is seldom known at the beginning." The artist has been exhibiting nationally since 1972 and has works in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, Cleveland Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Yale University Art Museum, and others. Davidson Galleries last showed Dallmann in 1994.
