Available Works

Leslie Williams Cain's pastels capture the nuances of shifting light and stark beauty of the area east of the Washington Cascades. Cain's energetic strokes deftly convey tangled foliage, river curves, and wind as it moves across the water and land. Cain works and reworks the pastels, first sketching lines, then kneading the pigment into the surface to create broad planes of color. This process is repeated several times and completed with her bold overlay of line, creating images with depth, expression, and precision. Because of their large scale, these works immediately draw the viewer into the landscape, enhancing the visual experience.
